Core concepts

Section Identifiers

The actId canonical id, the fields that describe a section's place in the hierarchy, and moving from search to full text.

examples of the format

CFR_T17_P240_S240_10b5_1
USC_T15_C1_S1

An actId encodes where the section sits (title, chapter, part, section). Because of that, ids should come from the API and not be hand-built from a citation.

  • Search or resolve returns an actId.
  • GET /us/statutes/section/{actId} returns metadata.
  • .../body returns the text.
