Word add-in · install guide

Install LexBharat for Word manually

The add-in is not in the Microsoft store yet, so you add it by hand: download one small file and upload it in Word. This guide is for Word on the web and Word for Mac.

Before you start

  • •A Microsoft 365 account, so you can open a document in Word on the web or Word for Mac.
  • •The manifest file: the one small file Word needs.
Download manifest.xml
  1. 1

Open a document and find the Add-ins menu

Open any document (a blank one is fine). On the Home tab, click Add-ins, then More Add-ins at the bottom of the panel.

  2. 2

    Choose “Upload My Add-in”

In the Office Add-ins window, use Manage My Add-ins, then Upload My Add-in.

  3. 3

    Click Browse

A small upload box appears. Click Browse so you can point Word at the manifest file you downloaded.

  4. 4

    Pick the manifest.xml file

Select the saved file and click Open. This one small file tells Word where the add-in lives.

  5. 5

    Click Upload

The filename appears in the box. Click Upload; the add-in appears on the ribbon in a moment.

  6. 6

Open the add-in and sign in

Sign in or create an account, or switch to the bring-your-own-key tab and paste your own AI key.

That’s it, you’re in

The add-in now lives in your Word ribbon. Open the task pane to look up statutes and regulations.
